As an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) are you aware that you can qualify to join the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Register of Fleet Driver Trainers. On successful completion of the Mac Fleet Driver Trainer Course, which has been accredited by DSA, you can apply to join the DSA Register.
The course, which is run over five days on weeks commencing 7th and 14th March 2011, will prepare you to enter a new market and provide you with the knowledge and skills to enable you to assess and instruct drivers employed in a work-related driving environment.

The Home Office has produced the specification for a new police station-based drug screening device to test drivers suspected of drug driving.
The device will enable screening of suspects at police stations, removing the need to call out a doctor. If the screening is positive, a blood sample will be taken straight away for evidential testing. This should reduce the waiting time before evidential samples are taken, helping to ensure that any drug levels are recorded before they dissipate. Continue Reading…

New powers to tackle uninsured driving will come into force within months, Road Safety Minister Mike Penning announced recently
Under the new powers it will be an offence to keep an uninsured vehicle, rather than just to drive when uninsured.
Currently every responsible motorist pays an average £30 each year within their premiums to cover crashes involving uninsured and untraced drivers. It is also estimated that uninsured and untraced drivers kill 160 people and injure 23,000 every year. Continue Reading…
