Risk Assessments

Extract from the management Regulations:

3. – (1) Every employer shall make a suitable and sufficient assessment of -

  1. (a) the risks to the health and safety of his employees to which they are exposed whilst they are at work; and
  2. (b) the risks to the health and safety of persons not in his employment arising out of or in connection with the conduct by him of his undertaking,

Risk: If you can’t measure it – you can’t manage it.

As we can see every employer must assess the risks exposed to the employee whilst at work, this will include all driving activities. Risk should be calculated for the vehicle, driver (and those persons not in his employment) and journey in order that the assessment be suitable and sufficient. The Health and Safety Executive document ‘Driving at Work’ enforces this point.

MAC can help in this matter by liasing with company staff in order to assist you in preparing your risk assessments or training your staff to carry out risk assessments in house.

Please contact us and we will be happy to assist in this matter.
