RAC Foundation report backs speed camera safety benefit

Some 800 more people a year could be killed or seriously injured on the UK’s roads if all speed cameras were scrapped, a report has suggested.

Professor Richard Allsop said cameras had offered continuing road safety benefits since they were introduced.

Several councils have decided to scrap their speed camera programmes after the government cut road safety grants.

Winter and Drink Driving Seminar

As you will be all too aware the winter months are drawing near and as such it is wise to take extra precautions when driving. It is a sad fact that the incident rate increases as the weather conditions deteriorate, this combined with the dark nights and mornings makes a routine journey far more hazardous.

Death by disrespectful driving

A new report from leading UK insurer, AXA, calculates that 800 lives are lost on Britain’s roads through accidents caused by road rage or disrespectful driving, and nearly £1 billion (£945m) of premium could be saved if British motorists were to rid themselves of the aggression and general disrespect of their fellow drivers that is commonplace on our roads.

Green light for electric vehicle grant

The electric vehicle grant of up to £5,000 per vehicle will be introduced from the start of 2011.
