Details have been released of the first nine electric cars that will be eligible for grants of up to £5,000 in a government subsidy scheme.
Under the £43m initiative that starts on 1 January, buyers will get a 25% discount up to the maximum £5,000.
However, only three of the nine cars will be immediately ready for delivery, with others following as late as 2012.

Wales’ biggest police clamp down on illegal drivers led to 417 vehicle seizures and 30 arrests over two weeks.
The crackdown involved all four of Wales’ police forces.
Officers were targeting people driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance or driving without a valid licence.
They used Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology and worked with colleagues at the Motor Insurance Bureau and DVLA.

The DVLA is looking to clamp down on driving licence cheats who take advantage of the agency’s leniency regarding the time period allowed to hand over licences to have points added.
Before this month, those drivers given points for an offence, either a fixed penalty or through the courts, had up to 12 months to hand over their driving licence to the DVLA. This meant drivers could hold on to their licence for up to a year before it was officially revoked, and the driver could show a licence with fewer points.
A new interpretation of the law, by the DVLA, means drivers will now have 28 days to hand over their licence, before it is officially revoked. Continue Reading…

As an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) are you aware that you can qualify to join the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Register of Fleet Driver Trainers. On successful completion of the Mac Fleet Driver Trainer Course, which has been accredited by DSA, you can apply to join the DSA Register.
The course, which is run over five days on weeks commencing 7th and 14th February 2011, will prepare you to enter a new market and provide you with the knowledge and skills to enable you to assess and instruct drivers employed in a work-related driving environment.
