Roads to be given risk rating
December 18, 2007
The government is presently undertaking a risk analysis of current UK roads. The project intends to rate current roads on a 5 star rating (1 being the lowest for safety).
This will have an impact on the commercial sector in particular in that drivers and managers will be able to select the safest routes possible for their journey.
The rating system not only looks at accident statistics but items such as barriers, surface condition, roadside furniture and the state of verges to name but a few.
Announced on BBC radio it was commented that cars already have this safety system and it will only be of benefit if the roads follow suit.
